From the Byways to the Boulevards
From the byways to the boulevards, people may differ in their backgrounds, lifestyles, and social standing, but they share one common need: salvation from sin. God, in His love, sent Jesus Christ to die for our sins and rise again so that everyone who believes in Him will receive eternal life.

Whom would you expect to find along the byways? Perhaps rural dwellers, local labourers, and people who have been brought low by the circumstances of life.
And whom would you expect to find along the boulevards? Perhaps city dwellers, professionals, wealthy shoppers, tourists, and businesspeople.
The people we encounter in these two places may differ in their lifestyles, occupations, social standing, and circumstances. Yet, beneath these outward differences, they share one common need: the need to be saved from sin and its grip on the human race.
Sin is a problem that affects all humanity, regardless of age, status, tribe, or tongue. Whether on the byways or the boulevards, every person needs Jesus Christ.
The Depravity of the Human Race
Every human being is born with a sinful nature. The heart of man is corrupt, as Scripture declares:
The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; who can know it?
-- Jeremiah 17:9 NKJV
This inward corruption eventually expresses itself through our thoughts, desires, choices, and actions. By nature, humanity is inclined towards sin and rebellion against the will of God.
The Bible makes this clear:
There is none righteous, no, not one; There is none who understands; There is none who seeks after God. They have all turned aside; They have together become unprofitable; There is none who does good, no, not one.
-- Romans 3:10–12 NKJV
This is the condition of the human race. No one is exempt, and no outward distinction can change our need for salvation. The people on the byways need Jesus, and so do the people on the boulevards.
Jesus Is the Answer
God, in His love for humanity, provided the answer to our problem through Jesus Christ.
Jesus came into the world and lived a sinless life. He willingly laid down His life, bearing the penalty for our sins through His death on the cross. On the third day, He rose from the dead, just as He had promised.
Through His death and resurrection, Jesus made salvation available to everyone who believes in Him. Whoever puts their faith in Him will be delivered from the power of sin and receive eternal life.
As the Bible declares:
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
-- John 3:16 NKJV
God's invitation is extended to all. It does not matter where you come from, what your social standing is, or what circumstances have shaped your life. What matters is your response to Jesus Christ.
Everyone needs Jesus, the young and the old, men and women, the rich and the poor.
From the byways to the boulevards, the message remains the same: Jesus Christ is the answer to the problem of sin, and through Him, everyone who believes can receive eternal life.
